Science fiction fans out there, meet the nerdbots. Created by married couple Nicholas & Angela from Kansas City, Nerdbots are adorable robot-shaped sculptures made from old machines, antique appliance pieces and other found objects. Each of these endearing droids is unique and comes with a different name and lovable personality. I feel like Adopting-a-bot right now.

I Heart Guts designs the cutest items featuring our internal organs. Their original line with 8 cuddly soft plush organs is perfect for those recovering from surgery or anatomy lovers. They also sell t-shirts with snappy catchphrases (my favourite is the Pancreas ‘Gimme Some Sugar’ shirt) and adorable stickers and buttons.

If fashion is about expression, what statement a person wearing a blimp handbag or an owl shaped purse is trying to make? These eccentric bags were created by italian designer Carla Braccialini whose motto is ‘To create handbags as an absolute beauty concept without fear of daring, to be exclusive and bring to women the desire to play with fashion, escape banality.’ Even if they might be a bit too quirky and not exactly practical, they are definitely very unique and interesting pieces to look at.

Designed by Ran Lerner, the Doodlebook Frame allows you to display your photos in entirely personal ways. Have fun creating your own border with drawings, quotes or captions and when you get bored with the design just rip it off and start over. Each frame comes with 80 sheets of white sketch paper (also available in multi-colored sheets) and can be either wall-mounted or placed on a table.

“Al Dente” is an animated short film with beautiful colours and opera-like music about a tiny street girl searching food and making a scary discovery about a knife-wielding chef. Made in 2007 as graduation project by three students from French computer animation school Supinfocom Valenciennes.

Oktapodi is an impressive 3D short animated film about a pair of octopus lovers ripped apart and how they have to overcome adversity to reunite.

Not only the plot is quite entertaining as the best shorts from Pixar but the story takes place in Santorini, Greece, a beautiful eye-filling setting. Created as a graduation project by the students of the renowned french school Gobelins.

‘Dumped’ is a fun series of portraits by Meg Wachter that captures people’s expressions at the exact moment a food or liquid was ‘dumped’ over their heads. I have seen the pictures before but not the video. Watching in motion is also fantastic because it shows how genuine their reactions are. You can watch the entire process: the wait for the dumping and their reactions to it, whether it is shock, disgust or delight, each resulting frame is amazing because they are real and all of them are truly having a good time.
