Today, I sent my tumblr url for one of my friends and instantly added a “well, I haven’t written anything too personal on it yet”. Then I remembered a post Ian made a few days ago about text being scary and I started to think of a reason for my lack of text posts. You can check for yourself, so far I’ve only used my tumblr as an aggregator for all the interesting things I find, much like ffffound, del.icio.us., stumbleupon or similar sites. And for a moment there I thought “I’m making a bad use of my tumblr” just because I was avoiding one of its tools. I’ll admit: I’m terribly afraid on using the text tool on my tumblr. And I don’t know exactly why… Posting online has never been a problem for me, I’ve had blogs since 2001, but this year, I didn’t had any proper blog. I had my vimeo account and my flickr account and both of them where updated constantly but I didn’t put my ideas into words anywhere. Why is being so hard to get back to text? Posting should be like riding a bike. And I guess I’m not making a bad use of my tumblr afterall, because posting the things that somehow caught your attention, things you liked enough to share with others might be even more personal than actual text. Nevertheless, I’ll try to use the text tool from time to time.
